Grace had long since laid down for her nap, but Zoe had stayed at the top of the stairs, listening to John and Mal be...well, John and Mal. They seemed to have stopped posturing at each other for the moment, so she took the chance to finally come down.

"We will not be teaching Grace anything about defense until she's at least capable of walking," she said.
