With Grace safely tucked away in bed, Zoe was taking the opportunity to spend an evening relaxing and cleaning her guns.

Yes, those two things went together, in this house at least. Someday, she might even let Grace help.

"Does he know anything useful?" Zoe asked. "That's the important part."

"That he does." John picked up a revolver and absently began dismantling it.

Zoe waited a few moments to see if he'd offer anything else up, before she gave him a little nudge. "Like what? You know you can tell me," she said.

John shifted and took a deep breath, letting it out in a sigh. "The demon -- Azazel -- fed Sammy some of his blood when he was in the nursery that night."

Of all the things he could have said, that wasn't even on the list. "What? That's disgusting," she said. "What in the world...why?"

"You've been trying to figure it out," Zoe said. No wonder he'd been researching so much. "That doesn't sound like something that will have a good answer."
