16 Unicorn Street, Tuesday Evening

Zoe had planned on having a quiet evening at home, until Grace insisted on watching her new favorite video over, and over, and over again. She was fairly certain that the songs and dances would play a large role in her nightmares tonight, but it was worth it to keep Grace entertained. She certainly wouldn't have minded a distraction though.

The summer was almost over and so Dean was starting to sort through three years of stuff he'd accumulated and deciding what to take with him, what to trash and what to store down at the house.

The last category was looking dauntingly large and so he was taking down a load this evening of things he wouldn't need before he left.

He knocked on the door and then opened it and stuck his head inside. "Anybody home?"

"Hi Dean," Zoe said, getting up to help with the door. "We're here. What's all this?"

"Just some of my stuff that I'm not going to have room for in the impala. I was hoping I could store it here...?" Dean asked hopefully. "If you're not planning on turning my room into a study or something."

"Of course you can keep your things here," Zoe said. "Come on in. You're getting all packed up already?"

"More like sorting," Dean said. "I've never been in one place for three years before; that's a lot of time for stuff to pile up."

"I can imagine. You're going to have to learn how to pack light again," Zoe said. "Are you excited about traveling again?"

"Yeah," Dean said. "It'll be cool to get on the road with Alec and kick some evil butt. But I'm going to miss this place too."

"We're going to miss you too," Zoe said. "Even if your father might not say that out loud. You're going to call us and keep us updated on how you're doing, aren't you? I don't want to have to find a way to talk to other hunters to know what you're doing."

"I'll call," Dean promised. "Have to keep a long distance eye on my siblings after all."

"I'm going to miss having two reliable babysitters," Zoe said, laughing. "I know Grace is going to miss you." She figured Sam's feelings went without saying. "We'll have to put her on the phone so she can chatter at you."

Dean chuckled. "That would be awesome. I'll need to keep up with all the exciting activities of a toddler."

Zoe laughed. "Oh, yes, you'll need to be updated if she learns more words and numbers. I don't suppose there's anything you need from us?" she asked. "Food or supplies or anything like that?"

"I'm good," Dean said. "Been saving up some money from hustling pool and got some credit cards and stuff." He paused. "Though I never say no to pie."

"I don't know if pie will keep well in the car," Zoe said. "Though, I suppose if anyone can find a way, you can."

"Hey, I'd be happy to eat it before I go," he offered generously.

"I might be able to make sure that we have pie on hand from now until when you leave. As a small present," Zoe said warmly. It might have been like spoiling him, but that didn't seem like such a bad thing, considering how far away he'd be.

"You're going to make me not want to leave," Dean said, mostly teasing, but there was a core of honesty there.

"I can't imagine why I'd want to do that," Zoe deadpanned.

"Aside from the island getting crowded if none of us grads ever left?"

"We could find a space for you," Zoe assured him. "It's a pretty big island."
