Zoe was stretched out on the couch, balancing a plate of food on her stomach as she idly watched the television. She was certain that there were more messages creeping into her voicemail, but she was ignoring their existence for the time being.

John was looking at his phone warily. "You really didn't get my message?" he asked, not for the first time.

"No, I really didn't get your message," Zoe replied. "I got a whole lot of messages, but none of them were from you."

John groaned and rubbed his forehead. "I wonder who I asked to spend a quiet evening in with then."

"I don't know, but they aren't here." Zoe smirked. "I wonder if all of my messages got to the right place too."

"Did you accidentally proposition a random person?"

"No, but I did threaten to kick someone into next week. That may explain why I had to defend my sexuality as well..." Zoe said, trailing off as she tried to think of everything she'd said over the course of the day.

"You had to defend your sexuality?" John repeated in amused disbelief. "I'd think one look at you at the moment would be a fairly good defense."

"One of the students claimed that someone thinks I'm a lesbian," Zoe replied. "I'd like to think that message was meant for someone else."

"Either that or there's something you're not telling me," John observed wryly.

"There might be things that you don't know about me, but I assure you, none of them involve the same sex. There was that one time we dressed Mal up like a woman though..."

"Oh? Was it voluntary on his part?"

"Yes, believe it or not. It was all part of his plan for best infiltration. Plus, I think he likes the way women's clothes feel more than men's."

"Okay, that may be more than I need to know about the man -- at least until I finally meet him," John said dryly. His phone gave the ping that meant a new voice message had come in. "So, do I listen to that?"

"I suppose you should, just in case it's really meant for you," Zoe said.

"I'm going to put it on speaker phone; if it's another weird thing about my kid wanting to imagine me with no underwear, I want a witness," John said. He accessed the message and let it play over the speaker so they both heard this (http://demons-death.livejournal.com/285.html?thread=497693#t497693).

All Zoe could do was stare at the phone as the message played. "Was that Sam?"

"It was." John was doing a good deal of staring at the phone himself.

"At least you know he's being safe?" Zoe offered. "And not getting into trouble with hired women?"

"I'm more hung up on the fact that since I didn't make a call congratulating him on sleeping with a hooker, but it was someone he can't believe he's related to, it was probably Dean."

"Would Dean really tell him something like that?"

"I did get that no underwear message earlier..."

"Either your sons have gone crazy, or they're leaving messages for the wrong people. Or both," Zoe said.
