After the faculty meeting, Zoe grabbed some piles of paperwork from her office, and headed home with John. She'd meant what she'd said about keeping an eye on him after his time traveling, and there were some very important things she wanted to make sure they discussed before the day was done. It was possible that having him go missing had made her start seriously thinking about the future.

"You look like a woman with a mission," John observed as they made their way inside the house.

"You're very observant," Zoe said, smiling at him. "My mission is good, I assure you."

"And here I was thinking how hot you'd be carrying out some nefarious purpose," John teased.

"If my first mission is successful, I might be inspired to carry out a second, more wicked one," Zoe replied.

"Now that sounds promising."

Zoe set her paperwork down, before sitting down and watching John. "I was wondering if you'd given any thought to the wedding."

"Ah." John gave her a small smile. "As a matter of fact..."

"Oh good, I'm not the only one then," Zoe said. "I had a lot of time to think last week."

"Funnily enough so did I," John said. "Several weeks' worth time. Not counting the long sleep."

"You're not allowed to do that again, in case I wasn't clear about that," Zoe said. "I'm not about to lose you before I even have a chance to marry you."

"I feel the same way," John said. He smiled slightly. "Is this leading up to us eloping to Vegas next weekend?"

"Mmmm, that's very tempting," Zoe said. "Weddings seem very complicated in this time."

"Are they not where you're from?" John asked curiously. Not that he wanted to elope to outer space to get married, but...

"Not if you're not part of the Alliance," Zoe said. "You still have to register the marriage, and have someone official-like do the ceremony. When I got married the first time around, we just got everyone together and did it, and then went out and got drunk." She paused for a moment. "So, same basic concept, I suppose, but less complicated."

"I had most of the complicated when I got married the first time," John admitted. "Mary wanted the whole production and I wanted her to be happy so..."

"There has to be a middle ground, right?" Zoe asked. "Somewhere between eloping and something complicated? All I want to be happy is you, the boys, and our friends. Especially the ones who don't want to shoot you."

"Don't want a shotgun wedding?" John teased.

Zoe groaned and resisted the urge to throw one of the couch pillows at him. "I think Mal will bring enough shotguns for everyone, if you want."

"Combine that with the amount of arms Hunters usually travel with, we'll definitely be the wedding most likely to break a metal detector."

"Can you imagine if anything tried to attack the town while everyone was here?" Zoe asked, laughing.

"Damp stain on the floor would be the best that would be left of them," John chuckled.

Zoe laughed more, and gave a content sigh. "At least I think it's safe to say our friends will get along."

"Or we'll have an old fashioned shoot out," John said. "One or the other."

"I'm not letting Mal shoot you. 'No shooting the bride or groom' is going to be a set rule."

"I think that's generally a set rule at any wedding," John said. "Just not usually one that has to be stated."
