Zoe was aware that things had gone a bit strange again this weekend, and she'd been keeping an eye out for signs of trouble - particularly from the two troublemakers she was related to. She was fairly certain that if any of the students had a real issue to be dealt with, she'd hear about it, so for now, she was just grateful that nothing happened to Grace. She took those kinds of small blessings where she could get them.

"Come on," Dean said, dragging Sammy up the walk to the front door by his hand. "It'll be fun."

"It's not going to be fun! It's going to be scary," Sam insisted. "I'm gonna get into trouble."

"Why would you get in trouble?"

"For fighting wrong? For hurting Zoe? There's like a million bad things that could happen," Sam replied.

Dean resisted the urge to roll his eyes. "Don't be a chicken."

"I'm not a chicken," Sam said, as he moved to stand behind Dean. "You go and knock."

"Fine, I will." Dean walked up to the door and knocked clearly.

When Zoe opened the door, she wasn't entirely surprised to see the boys in younger form, but it was still enough of a shock that it took her a moment before she smiled down at them. "Well, hi there."

"Hi, Zoe," Dean said brightly. "We're here and already for our sparrin' session!"

Sam, for his part, didn't exactly look ready, and peered at Zoe from behind Dean.

Zoe looked back and forth between the two of them, trying to decide if Dean was being serious. "We can't spar today," she said. "At least, I can't spar with you."

"Why not?" Dean asked.

Zoe opened her mouth and luckily, she realized that the truth might not work before she said anything. "I've been thinking about it, and I'm worried you're too young for sparring," she said, twisting things just a little.

But still the words didn't go over very well. "I'm not too young!" Dean insisted. "I'm almost 10!"

Zoe smiled down at both of them and took a step back to open the door wider. "Here, come on in and we can talk."

Dean stepped inside and turned to make sure Sammy is following. "Really, Zoe, we're more skilled than we look."

"Not as skilled as you though," Sam said, following Dean inside.

"Oh, well, thank you," Zoe said, shutting the door behind them. "I know you're skilled. You're probably the strongest boys I know. But you're not ready to fight with adults yet. You could get very badly hurt."

"The evil things in the world aren't going to care that we're little," Dean said. "We need to know how to protect ourselves. And keep in practice."

"You can practice all you want - with each other," Zoe said. "If you want to do it here, I can watch and give you tips."

Dean cocked his head to the side, considering.

"It might be good to have an outside observer," Zoe said, trying to keep him on this idea. "I could catch things you might not notice since you're so involved in the sparring."

Dean looked at his brother. "Sammy? What do you think?"

"I think if I have to spar, I'd rather do it with you," Sam admitted.

"I'm so kicking your ass, you know," Dean told him.

"Like that's ever gonna change," Sam replied, rolling his eyes.

"I'm pretty awesome, yeah," Dean said modestly.

"You're both awesome," Zoe said. "What matters is that you try your hardest. If you do that, I promise I'll help. There might even be a reward in it for you."

"What kind of reward?" Dean asked. Not that he needed one to spar with his brother, but since it was offered...

"We have some pie here that we haven't finished yet. I'm pretty sure there's at least two pieces left," Zoe offered.

Dean turned to Sam. "Winner gets the biggest piece."

Sam was pretty sure it wouldn't be him, but he totally had a reason to try now. "Deal!"
