Zoe had set aside her usual paperwork for reports about the gremlin attack and the damage that had been done throughout the dorms and town. She was very grateful that things had gone so well, not just because none of the students were seriously hurt, but because she was pretty sure she could get away with not telling the school board anything about what had happened. What they didn't know didn't hurt them, and it didn't hurt Zoe either.

Henry had finally completed the insurance paperwork on losses and damages to the library over the weekend, and he figured someone over his head should at least look at the report before he mailed it off.

Also, some adult conversation not about time travel wouldn't hurt.

He smiled as he leaned in the door. "Principal Winchester, do you have a second? I'm still finishing the paperwork about the damages to the library. Seemed like the kind of thing you might have to sign off on."

Zoe glanced up and smiled, gladly setting her own papers aside. "I have plenty of seconds. Come on in and have a seat. I imagine you won't be the last person I have to talk to about damages."

"I hope nothing too terrible happened," Henry said as he took the seat and set his file of information on her desk. "I got away before anything too horrible could happen to me personally, but just from hearing radio the last few days it seems like the library wasn't even the worst of it. Did your family make it through okay?"

"Yes, we all managed quite well," she said. "Our house is very secure and my husband and I are both quite familiar with guns, so we didn't have much trouble. I'm glad you got away though. I'd be a lot happier if there were fewer people around when these things happen."

"Oh, good," Henry nodded. "I have to agree. Ever tried to quarantine everybody and have a giant slumber party until the worst passes?"

Then he thought a moment more and added, "... which might not work in this place."

Zoe laughed. "No, it probably wouldn't. There are far too many students who love to go into battle. We'd never be able to keep them all in the same place without a mutiny."

"I don't get that," Henry said. "But I guess that's why I'm the book guy, not the gun guy. I've never seen a librarian mutiny."

"I imagine it would involve a lot of book throwing," Zoe said, smiling at the mental image. "Getting things all out of order, refusing to deal with late fees..."

"And god forbid anyone spill coffee on a book. They'd be tarred and feathered."

"We might just have a space for that in town," Zoe said. "Who knew that being a librarian could be so exciting?"

"I can safely say I didn't expect this when I took the job," Henry laughed. "Though, hey. I never would have gotten to fill out insurance claims on gremlin attacks if I hadn't come here. it's a real resumé-builder."

"Hopefully, this is something you won't have to do often," Zoe said, looking over the file. Really, she hoped he wouldn't have to do it again at all, but she knew better than that. "I take it the library is still in working order for the most part?"

Henry shrugged a little. "It's definitely been in better shape. The students have been doing a good job patching up. We lost a couple of books, and there are a few dozen more that had some pretty extensive damage." Yes, this was still very sad to him. "But there wasn't any damage to the catalogs, and nothing got into special collections."

"Oh good," Zoe said, sounding especially relieved at that last one. "The last thing we would have needed is for the gremlins to have messed around in special collections. Everything else sounds simple enough to fix."

"Just elbow grease and money," Henry confirmed. "A few of the lost books are pretty rare now, but none of them are exactly high-demand titles. We can take our time replacing them, if we replace them at all."

"I'll let you be the judge of that. You know more about that sort of thing than I do," Zoe said, signing off on the form. "I appreciate you getting to me about this so quickly. It's nice to know that we can have a solid recovery for some things after being attacked."

"Not a problem," Henry said. "I wanted to take care of it before the entire building is encased in Jello, or something of the sort."

"We haven't had anything made out of Jello attack us in quite a while," Zoe said. "I wouldn't worry about that if I were you."

"It's always good to know I can cross one thing off the list," Henry said.

He wasn't going to ask for details.

That was probably a wise idea, really.

"If you run into any trouble getting what you need to fix the library back up, let me know, and I'll make sure it gets done," she said.
