Office Hours - June 3

Zoe had all the windows open in her office, and was enjoying the warm weather. She didn't mind when it was nearly deathly hot. That was when Fandom felt the most like home, and strangely when she felt the most comfortable being here and not flying through space. No one could ever accuse her of thinking normal, really.

She had been fighting the human impulse to ask for several weeks now; but that part of Kerrigan's psyche kept pushing and prodding, distracting her. The last thing she could afford was a distraction.

She knocked on Zoe's door. "Principal Winchester?"

Zoe glanced at the door and smiled when she saw Kerrigan. There was something about returning teachers that made her feel hopeful, like the insanity of this place wouldn't drive everyone in it away eventually. "Hi. Come on in," she said.

She slipped easily into the room with a hint of unnatural grace. "It's been a while," she drawled, quirking a slight smile. "Glad to see the school is still standing."

"I'm grateful for that fact every day. It certainly hasn't been all my doing," Zoe said. "It's good to see you again."

"It's good to be back," Kerrigan said, flicking a quick glance across Zoe's office. "I did have a question, however. I hear Barney Stinson has been put up as the new Dean of Students..."

If she didn't sound overfond... well.

"He has, yes. The school board..." Is on heavy drugs would probably not be the right way to end that sentence, as true as it might have been. "...likes him, I think. It was their decision."

Kerrigan would have to privately agree anyway.

"So Dean Jones was... what," she said, "Fired?"

"Oh no, she made the decision to leave herself, unfortunately," Zoe said. "It definitely hasn't been the same without her here."

"No," Kerrigan said, "I can tell." She ignored the roiling, pathetically human thing inside of her belly - the disappointment she had no need to feel. "Any idea if I can contact her?"

"I'm not sure, to be honest," Zoe admitted. "I can give you the contact information she left here, if you'd like. She left on good terms, she might not mind being reached."

"Please," she said, rubbing at her wrist. "It'd be nice to play catch-up. I haven't had the time."

Zoe nodded and went to her computer, looking up the information she had for Harriet. She wrote it down for Kerrigan and handed her the paper with a soft smile. "When you reach her, let her know that she's missed here, very much."

"I'll make sure to communicate the message," Kerrigan replied, twisting her mouth into an equal smile as she took the paper. "Thanks for having me back, ma'am."

"You're very welcome. It's good to have you back," Zoe said. "I like having familiar faces around here." Even if the people themselves had changed.
