Office Hours - September 15

Enough days had passed that Zoe was finally feeling less terrible about the past weekend. She didn't so much mind being rivals with Anakin now - it was fairly entertaining at this point, pitting their families against each other and all - and she hadn't been that cruel to Tony Stark, thank goodness. But Zoe was starting to seriously worry about Grace's taste in men, and considering she wasn't even old enough to go to school yet, that wasn't the kind of concern she wanted to have.

It didn't help that Grace kept asking if she could go to Jamie's office. No good would come of that, ever.

"Hello Principal Winchester!" Jamie shouted out from a good place in the hallway where he could duck an cover if needed. Or run. "How are you this fine and beautiful morning?"

"I was a lot better about thirty seconds ago," Zoe said sharply. Grace picked her head up at the sound of Jamie's voice, and that only made Zoe glare harder. "What in the world do you want?"

Jamie grinned and gave Grace a little wave.

"I just had a... hypothetical situation to ask you about," Jamie said in a oh-no-everything-is-okay-don't-worry kind of tone. "Like... what would happen if a former student married his daughter."

"Well, that would probably be a very bad thing indeed," Zoe said, trying not to notice Grace waving back. "Especially if the former student is the kind of person who shouldn't marry anyone."

Don't think that whole Juliet thing had gone unnoticed, Jamie.

"Aw. See, that's just a mean thing to say, right Grace?" Jamie said as he started making silly faces at her. "Though in this particular situation, how would you approach the matter? For this hypothetical person."

Grace giggled and made faces back at Jamie, and Zoe sighed. "I would apologize for ever thinking I could be worthy of the daughter, and hope I don't get strangled. Hypothetically."

"Not getting strangled is good Jamie said as he made another silly face at grace. "Anyway to guarantee that ending?"

"Avoidance would be a good first step." Hint hint. "At least until the daughter learns how to behave."

It was really Dave's suggestion, but she who was being kind enough to drop this off had thought it was a good one for getting rid of all that excess post-weekend alcohol she had no idea what to do with. So at some point there was a box of full bottles dropped off just outside Zoe's door before whoever just so happened to leave it took off running like an Olympic sprinter so they wouldn't get into trouble.

Under normal circumstances, Zoe would have looked into who had left such a thing on her doorstep. This week though, she was totally willing to let it slide, and not look her gift booze in the mouth.

"My booze senses are tingling," Deadpool said, leaning in to the doorway.

"Your booze senses are good," Zoe said, pointing to the box on her desk. "Someone left that outside my office, in exchange for us having to deal with Jamie."

"It could be poisoned," Deadpool warned her. "You should give it to me for testing."

A beat.

"And drinking."

"You can have some of the bottles if you want, but I'm keeping some too. I'll take the risk of poisoning."

"Are you sure?"

"Grace was married to Jamie this weekend. I am damn sure," Zoe replied.

"...I'll leave you half if we don't tell anyone else we got 'em?"

"Deal," Zoe said, grinning. "Whoever brought them certainly won't tell."
