Office Hours - October 1

With all the parents and guardians and friends and surprise guests around, Zoe figured she'd better be in her office, to field any concerns and answer any questions (hopefully not about certain teachers). She wasn't sure what kind of questions people might have, but that was half the fun of this weekend, really.

Was that a twitch at the mention of Jamie's name? She was going to have to get that looked at at some point. "Are you enough of a friend to take him home with you before someone here kills him?"

"Actually, I'm his future wife," Layla replied with small smirk. "Just don't judge me for that. I have no choice in the matter."

If anything, Zoe's expression got more horrified. "Please tell me you have a choice in procreation."

"You don't want to go there," Layla said making a face. "Trust me. It happened to the original Jamie Madrox and his one-time girlfriend. It does not go well."

Zoe made a face in return and shook her head. "Does he have a death wish? I mean, honestly? I can't figure out why he's here."

"No. But if you have a thousand lives you can lead you tend to take more risks," Layla replied. "Plus he's a major attention whore and finds that negative attention is more recognizable than positive."

See? Knows stuff.

"So, what, if I give him positive attention he'll stop making my life hell?" Not only did that not make sense, but Zoe wasn't sure if she could pull it off, as useful as that knowledge could be.

"Nah," she said after a moment's pause. "You're pretty much screwed."

"Oh, well, that's reassuring," Zoe said dryly. "I suppose it's nice to know that it isn't just us he drives crazy."

"Oh, you have no idea," Layla replied. "He's... not exactly everyone's favorite person back home."

"So, you're not dying to get him home?" That would be her disappointed voice.
