If there was one lesson Zoe was learning from this singing bug situation, it was that patience was not one of her great virtues. She was grumbling under her breath as hold music came out of the speaker on her phone, as it had been for most of the morning with different companies.

If there was a second lesson Zoe was learning, it was that if she wanted an exterminator to come to the island, she should probably skip mentioning that the bugs were singing, because getting laughed at and hung up on after listening to hold music was going to make her violent before too much longer.

Now that the new session of school was going and the whole teaching thing was official, Flash figured he owed it to the principal to have a little talk. Of course, if he hadn't been outed by radio, he probably would have tried to keep it quiet, but you had to play with how the defense was stacked in front of you.

He rolled up to Zoe's office and knocked on the door. "Principal Winchester?"

Zoe looks up and clicks the phone off, since it wasn't like that call was going to get her anywhere, most likely. "Yes, hello. Come on in," she said. "How can I help you?"

"I hope I didn't interrupt," Flash said, rolling in. "I'm one of your new workshop instructors this session. Eugene Thompson."

"Thompson... teaching a sports workshop, right?" Zoe asked. "I'm hoping you haven't had any trouble yet."

"Well, my workshop is on Fridays, so I don't have any complaints yet," Flash joked. "But I actually wanted to talk to you about something before that. I promise it's not something that will be an issue, but it's something I should disclose."

"All right," Zoe said, giving him her full attention. "If you're secretly related to the Skywalkers, I won't be surprised, for the record."

"I don't think I've been here long enough to really get that," Flash said. "But, no, this is nothing like that. A few weeks ago, when some people had their moods warped by some kind of weird crystal thing? On one of those days, an alien being took control of me and attacked one of your students and one of your teachers. Everyone survived, I promise."

"I remember those crystals, but I don't remember anything about aliens." Zoe thought about it for a moment. "I remember hearing something about a fight, though I think there was a lot of that going on."

"Well, it's something that could - theoretically - happen again, crystal or no crystal," Flash said. "I'm bonded with an alien symbiote. If it takes over - which it shouldn't, because I have a prescribed sedative for it - there's a chance it could do some serious damage."

Assuming the demon also in him didn't cause any problems.

"Well, never let it be said I've heard everything people have to deal with," Zoe said. "Did the crystal do something to the sedative? Because I've got to tell you, people get affected by a lot of things here, and I can't guarantee you won't have your mood toyed with again."

"According to the doctors I go to for this kind of stuff, it increased my adrenaline, which overfed the symbiote, which gave it enough strength to shake things off. Then they gave me some emergency tranquilizers that should put both me and it out for hours," Flash explained. "So that shouldn't be a problem again."

"But if it does, fire or sonics are the symbiote's weaknesses. If it ever starts rampaging, crank the volume of the school bell and you should be able to daze it long enough for somebody to take me down."

"I appreciate you telling me all of this," Zoe said. She grabbed a piece of paper and took down some notes. "Hopefully, we'll never have to use this information, and it probably says something about how long I've been here that I'm just going with it. But you don't seem like you're being untruthful."

"I've spent two tours in the Army," Flash said. "I know that it's best to be upfront about anything that might cause an issue with a mission."

"Also, if I didn't tell you, I'm pretty sure Kitty Pryde would get on my case and I don't think I really want that to happen."

Knowing that he was ex-military made Zoe feel even better, for solidarity reasons. "Oh no, she can be very intimidating," Zoe said. "You're a wise man indeed."

"I haven't been accused of that too often," Flash joked. "Anyway, that's all I really had. No other big revelations."

"Well if you think of any more fun revelations, just come on back," Zoe teased, before giving him a small smile. "I do appreciate you coming by."
