Zoe sat down as she continued to unpack, feeling slightly unnerved by the silence of her new place. Sure, there had been times when things on Serenity were quiet, but they were never silent. Even the early mornings were met with rhythmic mechanical humming, or mechanical clanging and clunking if parts were falling off of the ship again.
And it was odd to be alone. She'd always been able to find a few moments to herself when she really needed them, but those times were usually interrupted by the Captain yelling, or Jayne being Jayne, or by parts falling off of the ship again. ( But now she was truly by herself, in a little apartment, on what was undeniably Earth-That-Was. )
